fast facts

• I'm a 21+ graduate student.
• Slash and threading only.
• Discussion through journals, please. I don't use AIM at all.
• Third person, past-tense.
• PBs should fit the characters, not vice versa.
• Plotting and brainstorming is a must! I won't write with someone who doesn't help move the story forward.
• I take my time with lines! Development is crucial to me, so please be in for the long haul.
• I enjoy romance as much as the next person, but pure fluff bores me. There needs to be a source of conflict or intrigue.
• Sex can be important to character development, especially early on, so I won't fade-to-black every time the clothes come off. That said, let's be realistic, flexible, and aim for some sort of balance. Sometimes it's better to write it out, and sometimes it's better to assume.
• My post length varies. I try to adapt, but I won't match you word-for-word at the expense of the natural flow of the writing. At the end of the day, I write what fits any given reply and I ask that you do the same. No trimming or padding necessary.
• I write when I have the time and the inspiration. There are days when I reply multiple times and there are days when I don't reply at all. I try to keep my partners informed if there's going to be an extended delay and I don't mind friendly check-in comments, but I hate deadlines.
• If you want to alter or end a line, just let me know. I promise I don't beg or bitch.

storylines

If the stars said that you couldn't love me, are you telling me that you would listen?
Jeremy and Zach have lived in the same idyllic suburban neighborhood their entire lives. For the past seventeen years, they've walked past the same perfectly-manicured rose bushes, suffered through the same boring History classes, and listened to the same family lectures about honor and moral integrity. With so much in common, you'd think they'd get along brilliantly. There's just one problem: Jeremy and Zach have never spoken a word to one another. Sure, they've passed each other in the halls and glimpsed one another on the street, but neither has ever made an effort to pursue anything more - and why would they? Zach is caught up in sports and living up to his family's impossible expectations, while Jeremy is busy doing his best to mock and ignore them. So far, Jeremy's parents have succeeded in covering up his little acts of rebellion and dispelling rumors about his "sexual deviancy," but it doesn't take long in Jeremy's company to realize that there's something different about this kid. That's exactly what Zach sees when they run into each other one day and sparks fly where they shouldn't. Jeremy is frank, unabashed, and, above all, brave, embracing the sexuality that Zach has been trying to hide since puberty. He knows it's dangerous, but try as he might, Zach can't deny the chemistry and stay away for long. Increasingly torn between being the person his parents want him to be and being the person that Jeremy allows him to be, he finds himself on the cusp of a decision with repercussions he never imagined.

• This is sort of a star-crossed lovers line, with more focus on the psychology and less emphasis on the sap. The names can be altered, but I'd prefer to play "Jeremy." I'm looking to play this out from the start and I'm looking to really flesh these characters out into rich, flawed, three-dimensional personalities. I want conflict, I want desire, I want confusion, I want obsession, and I want angst. Above all, I want realism. There are hundreds of charming, upper-middle class conservative New England towns that seem harmless and picturesque on the surface, but hide deep, crippling prejudices and pressures. This is one of them. Their relationship won't be simple or easy, and that's half of the fun of it. I don't want to plan too far ahead, because I'd prefer to take our time and let this take its natural course. With that in mind, I wouldn't at all mind if this took a darker turn down the line after their affair came to light. Jeremy may be the one with the balls at the start, but sometimes the initially reluctant one ends up being the most invested in refusing to let them be torn apart. Love is a very powerful emotion. When it's threatened by outside forces, it can drive people to take drastic measures.
